"Superbrothers"

So the lead up to this picture was watching the boys run out of Ethan's room yelling "SUPERBROTHERS"---cracks me up when Andrew allows Ethan to dress him. Fun to see them love each other--most of the time at least.

So today the conversation goes something like this:

Scene: I am being attacked by 2 little boys in robes with swords (calling themselves "bad" bible guys--what?!?!?!?).

Ethan says out of nowhere "Well Mommy, if we ever have any more babies in this family I sure hope it's a girl."

Me: "Why is that?"

Ethan: "There's just too much violence around here don't you think?"

So the little one has been keeping my life "colorful" lately to put it mildly. As I write this I am reflecting on the past hour where he managed to throw our cordless phone in a pan of water in the sink and took a red marker to the arms of my chair in the living room. Nice. Kevin says their cuteness is their defense mechanism. Don't get me wrong, I know I will look back on these days and miss them, but really-toddlers are just high maintenance.

Here are one of Andrew's "outfits" that he decided he would wear to the store. What do you say to that?

In Tennessee this Christmas, he decided he needed to get "ready" like Mommy. Got my purse and put on his lipstick. Lookin' good my man.

We love you Andrew ---thanks for keeping us laughing (most of the time at least).

Here is a glimpse into how we filled part of the 10+ hour drive to Tennessee last week. We actually made it with no dvd players on board. Amazing that the kids actually looked out the windows for once!!! Anyway, this just makes me laugh-

just to update-

I'm so terrible about updating this lately-we have had a busy fall. Here are a few recent shots of the guys.

We've spent a lot of time this fall around the fire--the boys of course love it for the s'mores...

The boys actually went as pirates for Halloween (I'll try to post one of those soon), but this day we dressed up to go to the zoo. This picture of Andrew just makes me laugh.

big week for Ethan

This week has already been filled with two big milestones for Ethan---turning 6 and starting "real" school. He has been so excited and it has been fun to watch him jump right in to Kindergarden with no problem. I thought I would be fine, but have to be honest that I was a bit emotional seeing him walk in that door. If pareting is just a series of gradually letting go, I feel like that was one of the first steps. The days up to this point seemed long, but looking back now the years seem short. OK, this sounds totally depressing....sorry. We are all looking forward to getting back into a routine and of course I still love shopping for school supplies. Nothing like the smell of a brand new Trapper Keeper (that's for all you 80's crowd).

heaven for little boys

So we have been spending some time at the Dillard's farm lately--as evidenced by the following video, the boys (especially Andrew as he is now going through a total tractor obsession) are in heaven. Open space to play, dirt, any number of huge utility vehicles and endless blackberries to pick. It really is fun to have them 2 hours away and the boys love to visit.
